One of my favorite pastimes is wine tasting and its probably the only thing I miss about the Bay Area besides some of my favorite sports teams. When I learned that the island of Menorca has several wineries, I decided to check out the largest of them, Bodegas Binifadet. There are roughly 180,000 bottles produced on the island and Binifadet produces 100,000 of them. The other six wineries produce the remaining 80,000. Since I'm not generally a big fan of white wine, I opted to taste three of their reds. The 2015 Syrah was delicious and is one of the stars of the winery, along with their Chardonnay. After the tasting, I hung out in what they referred to as the "chill out" area while enjoying another class of Syrah. On my way out, I took a look throughout their store, which had some really cute items for sale. Visiting Binifadet was a nice little break from the beach and an enjoyable way to spend an afternoon.
